Health, Safety & Risk
Safe Storage and Administration of Medication
A practical medication course for support workers in children's residential homes, built around the point most training misses: where your role ends. It covers consent and the child's voice, refusal, self-administration and covert administration, the four categories of medicine and how each is handled, secure storage including controlled drugs and fridge medicines, and completing the MAR correctly.
A full lesson deals with errors and near misses — the immediate steps, when it becomes a safeguarding matter, and when Ofsted must be told.
