Managing training day to day mattered more than course numbers

When choosing a training provider, Calm Space placed more weight on managing training requirements than on the number of courses advertised. Its Registered Manager wanted a platform that fitted the daily work of a residential children's home.

Nest Learn connects course assignments and training records with a Training Matrix. Managers choose the training each person needs, set deadlines through Learning Paths and see progress, due dates and expiry dates together. Online learning and face-to-face training contribute to the same view.

Senior managers can also see training across Homes in the same matrix.

Calm Space's Registered Manager describes that day-to-day oversight as a major change. Since bringing in Nest Learn, the Registered Manager reports that training has stopped being a source of worry.

A clear training starting point

From day one, Nest Learn gave Calm Space a focused list of training for children's homes. The Registered Manager valued knowing where to start, with courses relevant to the setting and a way to keep track of the training its staff needed.

Less time coordinating face-to-face and online training

Calm Space also valued the face-to-face training records. Its Registered Manager reports a substantial reduction in the time spent organising in-person training alongside online courses.

In Nest Learn, managers can schedule their own face-to-face sessions, book staff, record attendance and attach evidence. Those records sit alongside online learning, so the training a Home delivers can be managed in the same system as the courses staff complete online.

For Calm Space, having both together was a benefit the Manager had not found with the other providers they considered.

Bespoke induction built for their provider

Being able to have a bespoke induction course created was a significant benefit for Calm Space. The Registered Manager reports that Ofsted, local authorities and staff all praised the induction in their feedback.

Bespoke induction is an optional Nest service with a one-off fee. Nest builds an online course from a provider's existing induction, and managers can assign it alongside core courses through a Learning Path.

Confidence in the training evidence

The Registered Manager also valued the accreditation behind the training. Being able to show what staff had completed mattered when evidencing training to Ofsted and local authorities.

The CareCPD distinction on the certificates, together with the ability to verify them, gave the Manager confidence they had not found with other training providers they considered. The value was in having a course record they could present and a certificate that could be checked.

Fixed pricing without the credit quotes

Getting quotes for training credits had been a frustrating part of Calm Space's search for a provider. Nest Learn's straightforward pricing was an added benefit: a fixed price per Home that was easier to understand and plan around.

Home subscriptions cover the online catalogue for staff attached to that Home, without course credits or per-learner fees. Optional services and the Bank Pool for staff working across Homes are priced separately. See the plans and what is included.
